Eligibility requirements: 2.5 or above cumulative GPA (Cork and Berlin require a 3.0) and at least 45 credit hours completed. Most programs are open to both Mason and non-Mason students.

Mason students may earn 12 to 16 transfer credits per semester. Participants pay Mason tuition and an administrative fee to Mason. Room and board are paid to the host university. Courses are taught in many different disciplines, either in English or the language of the country depending on the site. These programs are open to Mason students only. NON-MASON PROGRAMS

In addition to this wide array of Mason programs, Mason students also have the option of applying to any accredited Non-Mason Study Abroad Program offered through another university or college, and transfer the credits back to Mason. Center for Global Education's resource library contains some resources for study abroad and many more can be found in the library or online. Research and select your host university or college and follow its application procedures. Students must complete the necessary paperwork for the Center for Global Education and pay an administrative fee to Mason prior to going abroad in order to ensure the transfer of credits. Eligibility requirements: see particular program’s eligibility requirements, at least second semester sophomore (45 credits).

Accreditation: Students who participate in a program sponsored by a program provider that is not on Mason's current List of Study Abroad Programs must choose a program that is accredited. Accredited program courses are taught by faculty hired by an accredited institution. The official transcript must be issued by an accredited university or college and sent directly to the Center for Global Education on letterhead. To determine whether an university or college is accredited, check with your Program Officer at Center for Global Education, who will check the Admissions INBanner database. Students are responsible for providing the appropriate documentation to demonstrate that a program is accredited. The Center for Global Education and the Office of Admissions have the final authority in determining whether or not a program is accredited.

If you are interested in this option, please follow the procedures on the Non-Mason Programs web page.
