Bench to Bedside: Translational Cancer Research in catania

DATES: June 21 to June 27, 2009

COST: $2,421. This fee includes: Mason tuition, single room accommodation in Catania, half board, ground transportation, pre-departure orientation, evacuation insurance, International Student Identity Card and administrative costs in the United States and Italy. Please note that international airfare is NOT included in the program fee.

Program Details

This unique program offers participants the opportunity to earn
Continuing Medical Education credits while studying in Catania, the second largest city in Sicily.

Led by Dr. Lance Liotta, this is a unique course of study offered for graduate students pursuing a PhD or students pursuing an academic career in a clinical department, as well as those students with medical training who have an interest in applying basic research discoveries to clinical care or public health.

Students will attend lectures and hands-on workshops providing
exposure to basic science concepts in cancer molecular biology and their translation through clinical research and commercialization to patient benefit. Course lectures will cover cancer biology, invasion and metastasis, genomics, proteomics, bioinformatics, cancer progenitor cells, diagnosis, imaging and treatment of cancer, new technology for cancer research, individualized therapy, clinical research trial design and bioethics of translational research.
